GREENMOUNT WEST

ART DISTRICT | PUBLIC ART & REC CENTER

North-east Baltimore is an area of economic division.  The Western edge contains the Art District, an up-and-coming area with high end housing and many local attractions.  The Eastern side remains abandoned after the Baltimore riots, consisting primarily of

abandoned warehouses and row-homes.

Greenmount West is central of the division.  The goal of this project is to create a public Arts Center to encourage further development through the neighborhood.  It becomes an iconic location for artists to both create and display their work.

Site Analysis

By exploring the population density, household size, and household income, certain areas become very clearly isolated from the surrounding neighborhood.   This intervention became an organic, local project addressing a specific block of abandoned row-homes.
